Technology Specialist, Sydney

"WoodMac has provided a platform for me to develop a broad range of skills and have a lot of fun along the way."
I started in Wood Mackenzie as a Helpdesk Analyst in Edinburgh in 2005 after performing similar roles in small and large scale organisations around the city. I saw joining Wood Mackenzie as an opportunity to work for a company that encourages personal and professional growth.
My role on the Helpdesk was to provide support and assistance to WoodMac staff and clients on our own internal infrastructure and applications as well as our research products. I feel that the combination of dealing with Wood Mackenzie staff and clients of a technical and non-technical background really helped me to hone the interpersonal skills which are just as vital as the more technical skills in such a role.
At the start of 2007 I was offered the opportunity to move to our London office to take on the new role of Technical Specialist for this office as well as our operations in Johannesburg and Dubai. The change in role and circumstances allowed me to further develop my working style and skill set as I was working more independently while maintaining close contact with the Helpdesk, Infrastructure and Business Systems teams in Edinburgh.
Towards the end of 2008 I again relocated. This time to take on responsibility for our Australian Offices in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane as well as providing technical support and advice to our Australian based client base.
In my four years working in Wood Mackenzie I have worked out of three WoodMac offices and each one has provided its own set of new and interesting challenges and opportunities. WoodMac has provided a platform for me to develop a broad range of skills and have a lot of fun along the way.
