I joined Wood Mackenzie as a client trainer in May of 2000. I was very excited about the role as it was an opportunity to set up a professional client training operation within the sales and account management team. I had previously worked for Standard Life Investments as a training consultant looking after the property and mutual funds investment teams and found the transfer to the energy business fascinating. Energy impacts on every one of us and taking my career forward at Wood Mackenzie was an opportunity to completely immerse myself in a fundamental commodity.

As part of the sales team the client training team focuses on ensuring clients are making the most of their investment in Wood Mackenzie services, tools and models. Understanding client workflows is key and ensuring that our products meet their needs helps make sure that they will renew their contracts and continue to develop their relationship with us. I have found that the sales and customer support skills I had have been given ample room to develop as part of such a dynamic and growing company.

As our business expands we have recruited more client trainers around the world (Edinburgh, London, New York, Houston and Singapore). I am now Head of Client Training and find new challenges every day managing a remote global team. We deliver over 600 training sessions a year and focus on providing our clients bespoke training solutions, however, we also have the opportunity of training our colleagues ensuring we are interacting with people across the business. We work very closely with account managers, client services, product managers and research to provide an excellent service for our clients and working with so many dedicated professionals is one of the key benefits of working at Wood Mackenzie.
